Leslie Perez (TGF INTERVIEW)

Online fitness guru and YouTuber, Leslie Perez graces us with a written interview exclusive to The Ghetto Flower

Leslie has been working hard creating valuable content for her fan base and overall concurring her fitness and life goals. She has a story like a lot of other girls and guys growing up so it’s easy to make a connection and be a fan of her work right away. She has been at it for years and the dedication and grind is never not noticed. Leslie answered and abundance of questions dealing with growing up, her fitness career, and goals and aspirations she has for herself. The conversation makes for a great read on the fitness world and the great heart of Leslie Perez.

HEY EVERYONEEEEEEE! SO, the video you guys asked for is finally here!! sorry I took so long! If you've been following me on social media, you know my story about being small and putting on weight. I hope this can help my small people! Thank you guys for the support.

What made you get into fitness and YouTubing?

When I was in high school, I was very underweight. Not to an extreme extent, but definitely not healthy. Unfortunately, I did get made fun of and as a girl it was definitely tough. (We all know how high school can be lol) It caused me to really hit rock bottom resulting in depression, anxiety, and low self- esteem. It wasn't until my senior year of high school that I decided to change my lifestyle. I did my research, I put in the work & the fitness industry opened up so many doors for me. With that being said, my YouTube channel is one of them. It has allowed me to connect with so many people and not only share my fitness journey, but share other helpful content as well.

How long have you been into health and wellness ?

lp2.jpg

I started around November of 2014, so this month completes 4 years! I’m not going to lie I did tend to quit sometimes in the beginning but everyone does, right?

What’s your favorite muscle group to workout?

I’d have to say my two favorites are my quads and hamstrings. They’ve been my toughest muscle to grow, so I always enjoy pushing myself through heavy and intense workouts.

Goals for the end of the year?

I am currently 135lbs. My goal for the end of this year is to be a HEALTHY weight of 140. Some people might think I’m legit crazy for wanting to be that weight, but coming from a small girl who used to be barely 90 pounds, I cannot wait to reach that goal!

lp3.jpg

Goals for 2019?

My goals for 2019 are not only to prosper within my OWN fitness goals and aspirations, but to ultimately help others as well. I’ve been secretly working on a few projects/ideas to release in the upcoming year! I have been filming a lot of requested videos; I’ve been training with a variety of clientele, and working towards becoming a personal trainer. I’d like to create my own workouts, the opportunity to work with people one on one, and so much more. Stay tuned :)

Scripted Kristin (TGF INTERVIEW)

“I’m a versatile creator & I create whatever the f*** my soul feels like creating.”

@scriptedkristin

@scriptedkristin

Kristin also known as @SCRIPTEDKRISTIN recently answered a few questions for The Ghetto Flower in an interview that goes deeper into her work as a musician and artist, diving into here creative process and some of her influences.

Scripted tells us how she plans to kick off 2019 with a bang. In the interview she discusses her hunger for performing and hints at the potential of doing shows. The conversation makes for a magnificent read and provides coverage on the beautiful talent of Kristin.

Check out the best excerpts below.

As for her gift of art Scripted says” it was influenced by my pops when I was a kid. He taught me the roots of sketching
& allowing my mind to create visions by hand. It wasn’t until 2015 when I decided to manifest ideas by creating
3D paintings & home installations. Over the years I have created enough pieces for my own future gallery & shows.

How long have you been into art and doing music for?

“ I’ve always had a dose of creativity for art & music naturally since I was a yungin.”

Scripted started singing when she was around 2 or 3, stating music was steadily influenced by her parents, environment & filipino culture.

Throughout her years of school she started performing in talent shows from elementary school to high school.
She really took it way back with her first recording on a cassette tape in the 2nd grade! You know it was lit 🔥.

She says

“Through the trials & tribulations of my youth I started writing poetry as an escape which is why I call myself Scripted. “

As a lyricist she then decided she wanted to create her own music at the age of 18.  Since then she has been testing the waters in all different genres.

sk5.jpg

What inspires you to do what you do?

“The belief that I was created for a purpose & I won’t stop until I deliver.
If I didn’t create then i’d probably be dead. So I hustle not only for myself
but for those around me,  everybody gon’ eat & I put that on my grave.”

Ima let that quote speak for its self she is coming in and taking over the game in each category!

sk3.jpg

Coming into the end of the year what are your goals to close out 2018 and start 2019?

Scripted has some big plans to end out the year by giving a taste of her sound to the world by dropping a track
or two off her upcoming album that’ll be releasing in 2019 called Break The Rules.

Musically, she is also working on creating visuals & preparing for shows in near the future. “I’ve been itchin to perform.

Artistically, Scripted says

I had my work up in a gallery for the first this year which was mad dope. Until the year ends
i’m just working on executing commission pieces & just steady creating more art to see in galleries next year.
2019, I got the clip fully loaded.

Make sure y’all tune in and follow her she is making noise!

Sophie Vivero (TGF INTERVIEW)

Online Fitness Coach Sophie Vivero was featured on

Episode 8 of The Ghetto Flower - Project Podcast.

As a very special guest, Vivero answered a couple questions that brings to light much more than the hard work and self discipline that she has instill to maintain the fortress that is her body and mind.

Sophie lets it all out on a various number of topics, ranging from how her fitness journey began, to what got her online business started. Elsewhere, Sophie talks about a life full of balance and donuts (haha). The conversation makes for a great listen and offers insight into the powerful mind of “Almighty” Sophie.

Check out the best excerpts from the interview below.

Tell us a little about yourself, what is you name? Where are you from ?

My name is Sophie Vivero. I'm  22 years old and currently reside in Cortland, Illinois which is right next to DeKalb (NIU area for those of you who are clueless).

What got you into Fitness?

Growing up I was obese (I seriously was so don't question it lol) so once I hit middle school and became more aware of my body image it's when it all started. I didn't begin lifting and working out consistently until I was a sophomore in high school. Once in college, I became obsessed and that is where my passion for health & fitness began.

@SO_PHIT24

@SO_PHIT24

@SO_PHIT24

@SO_PHIT24

What are your favorite work outs?

My favorite workouts are those that involve lifting very heavy weight! I take a bodybuilding approach when training, but also incorporate powerlifting. I guess you can call it powerbuilding :)

Who are some of your fitness inspirations?

Hmm, my fitspos... where to begin?! So many people have inspired me but a few are my brother, Anthony Vivero, and IG icons Bella Falconi, Aubrie Bromlow, Meg Squats, and Isabel Lahela.

What music do you listen to when you work out?

I listen to rap, trap, and latin music when I workout. Anything from 2pac, to Future, Chief Keef, and J Balvin.

Do you have any tips for those looking to get into shape?

A huge tip I like to give my clients is to be consistent and remain PATIENT. Nothing happens overnight, but with hard work you can achieve anything you set your mind to!

What do you like about TGF? ;)

I truly love that TGF is not only a brand  but a place where like-minded individuals empower others regardless of status or background

KILLALLPAIN - KAP - (ARMY TRADEMARK)

We go to war with different pain daily, w each pain we overcome, we learn from and build on. Some battles harder than others, mission stays the same- KAP

Ronnie Lych also known as @xristosyotc recently answered a couple questions for The Ghetto Flower in an interview that exposes much more than his work as a fashion designer and entrepreneur, diving into his hardships and artistic inspirations and life living in Chicago.

The man behind KILLALLPAIN lets it all out through a number of topics, ranging from his favorite pieces of work, to what got him started with this all. Elsewhere, Ron talks humble beginnings and family ties. The conversation makes for a great read and offers a different point of view into the brilliant mind of Ron.

Check out the best excerpts from the interview below.

What is your name and age?

Ron/23 .. My partners Kwon/23 Phil/24

@xristosyotc Life too short, i gotta get it before they blow the whistle. 🎈(we never gave ah fuck bout you niggas standards)

ON Fashion/Artistic inspirations?

My father, Dries Van Noten, Sasha Trautvein, and Pharrell to name a few.

ON HIS favorite pieces or work?

It's a piece I made for a Chicago artist out here in 2016, it might have made it to him but he never wore it. He had no obligation to either so it's cool. I loved it because it was simple and an oxymoron. From what I received from his music he personally dealt with personal demons but overall knew he was good person. I used to forms of symbolism to represent that. And I also printed a face on the back on of a hood which was pretty damn tight

ON getting into fashion and clothing design?

It's been instilled in me since birth. My father is big on fashion and he took pride in having me in things that he could never afford for himself since I became apart of this earth. Then everyday encounters kept me attached through out my life. Everybody I looked up to fashion played a key part in their life. Your fashion gave people a perception of you and what you represented before you even got the chance to partake in a real conversation.

ON obstacles YOu’ overcome on your journey thus far?

Our main obstacle has been support. It's always an obstacle to gain genuine support. We believe there's a reason for it though, everything is so fast paced these days and things come and go in the snap of finger. For that reason we feel like it's hard for people to latch on to things even if they find themselves consistently liking what they produce.

How and When did you decide to take that first step and start something own?

I always knew I never wanted to work for anyone since a young age. I had thoughts your average young person or any person for that matter would ever think. I'd walk into restaurants and see people just doing their job and think to myself "I personally couldn't imagine living the rest of days this way" someone else would be thinking "I can't wait to get my food" it's always just been a little different for me

On Pancakes versus Waffles?

Waffles lol out iron though, none of that toaster shit.

RON LOUIS x PHERA

Ron Louis is a fashion designer hailing from the southside of Chicago who is taking the city by storm with his fashion line clothing company called “Phera”. I first came across his brand back in May when I went to Desiigner show, and rapper and label mate Valee made a guest appearance wearing a camouflage hoodie with very minimal branding except the words “DESIGNER” is a bold all caps font. This caught my attention so I dug deeper, I stumbled across Ron on instagram and have been a supporter ever since. I NEEDED to get my hands on a tee and this pop up seemed like the perfect opportunity to get to know Ron Louis, the man behind the “DESIGNER” no pun intended.

This past weekend the team at The Ghetto Flower attended a pop up located at 1418 W Division in the wicker park area of the city at a store called “SUPPLY LOCALE” to chat with Ron Louis himself and check out some of his dope merchandise. We briefly discussed how he became friends with some musicians in the industry and the hard trials and tribulations he had to face to get to where he is today.

Listen to our conversation below.

George releases most of his clothing in product drops that have multiple garments that you can choose from at a time. Each drop is unique and has a variety of different styled pieces you can choose from and mix and match with. Clean Skate Company’s most recent drop, headlined a long sleeve shirt with a Mr. clean image on the back reading “Stain Specialist” and a nice pull over rain hoodie that has “CLEAN” stitched on the front. There are also other notable garments in the drop but this just shows the variety in the styles of different garments and the authenticity behind the idea of the product drop.

Forex - Brennar Wair (TGF INTERVIEW)

What is Forex? I got the chance to ask my former college roommate some questions on his newest found talent. Meet Brennan Wair, a Forex Trader and Plant Based Enthusiast.

Tell us a little about yourself, what is your name? Where are you from?

My name is Brennan Wair, I am a heart surgery survivor. I had a stroke at 13 and overcame paralysis for three days. That story is one of my whys and the reasons I enjoy loving life. I just graduated college as a first-generation graduate from Marquette University. I was able to acquire a double major in Criminology & Law Studies and Psychology. My ultimate goal in life is getting people to understand and realize that the life we are currently given is not the life we have to live. We can change our lives.

What is Forex?

Forex is short for Foreign Exchange Market. Instead of the stock market where we would invest shares in a company or corporation. In the forex market, we invest in the economy and into the currency of that economy. Plus it’s easy to start because it’s cheaper than starting with the stock market. It is also the worlds largest financial market, $7 trillion a day market.

bw3.jpg

Do you have any tips for those looking to get into Forex Investing?

For those that are interested in Forex, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I am a mentor/educator for Forex so please reach out to me and I will connect you guys with a mentor of mine. Remember a closed mouth doesn’t get fed.

What keeps you motivated?

The date I had my second chance at life keeps me going. 2/24/2009 I have tatted on my right forearm. This was my second chance at life and that’s the time in my life I overcame being half paralyzed after suffering a stroke. So if I could overcome that, I can overcome the obstacle that stands in my way.

What do you like about TGF?

Aside from the dope apparel, you guys are creating, love the mission statement or definition of Ghetto Flower. “Describes someone from the ghetto who doesn’t let the negativity of the rough environment around them taint their beauty, dreams, and intelligence”. To me, this is so powerful. No matter the environment around us, a flower is bound to bloom if we instill persistence, resilience and a dedication to always be better. With those attributes, a ghetto flower can bloom. I love that motto. Extremely powerful. You guys have something powerful and valuable, I am glad to support such a positive and proactive group.

@6renn

@6renn

What got you into Forex? How long have you been doing it for?

The reason I jumped into forex was that it was my New Years Resolution this year. At the start of the year, I wanted to learn a new skill that could be beneficial in my life. I wanted to learn how money worked. I wanted to duplicate my income so I can pay off bills, loans, and all my debt. I want to retire my parents and my whole family. Overall I just wanted to build generational income and take care of my family for generations to come.

I have been doing Forex since January 19th of this year. So almost 7 months. It’s been a very interesting but rewarding journey.

IMG_5498.jpg

Who are some of your entrepreneur aspirations?

Some of my entrepreneurial aspirations include opening up an animal sanctuary to rescue all the factory farmed animals. I want to do this because I have been on a vegan and plant-based diet for over a year now. I also want to open up a franchise of barbershops in the Midwest. In addition, to that, I want to create a first-generation scholarship at Marquette University to give back to my Alma Mater. Finally, I want to open up a series of gyms in the Midwest that are centered around vegan athletes to being the vegan community and culture together.

What is the end goal for you? where do you see trading taking your career?

My end goal of trading is teaching and impacting over 30,000 people with the skill set of Forex. I want others to be able to reap the benefits from Forex as well. I want others to be time free from work and financially free so they could live the life they always wanted. So that they can be comfortable with their living/financial situation. I want to be a Master Educator for others for the Forex Market.

Bloody Dior ... THE WORLDWIDE LEGEND

You may have heard of Bloody Osiris... but are are you familiar with his brother Bloody Dior ? aka WORLdWIDE LEGEND

Like his sibling, Bloody Dior is an icon in the modern day streetwear culture. From fashion week runways to the corners of Harlem NY, his style has influence. I found out about Dior from his brother who I am sure you all know (Bloody Osiris). The bloody brothers definitely influence each other styles. What i noticed about Dior in contrast to his sibling is that he takes the more baggier , bulkier approach to his wardrobe, often accessorizing with heavy belts or a chest rig for example.

Dior also has many friends and comrades in the music industry. I have seen him flick up with the likes of Lil Yachty, Playboi Carti and ASAP Bari just to name a few (maybe this is where they are getting their style from...)

From watching his IG story, i know that Dior has been taking a lot of trips lately and is now going under the self proclaimed moniker "WORLDWIDE LEGEND" he really is taking the drip overseas.

I am interested to see where his career takes him. in the past Dior had gotten into some trouble with the law that put his.

From a Lost Soul - Who Is Daniella Digiulio? (TGF INTERVIEW)

Recently the TGF got a chance to ask Daniella Digiulio some question about her self and her blog titled "From a Lost Soul".

Who Is Daniella Digiulo ?

She is a sophomore at Aurora University in Illinois. A communication and media studies major with a double minor in multimedia journalism and black studies. Daniella is heavily involved on campus, on the board for Black Student Union,AU speech and debate team and have competed in several tournaments including a national tournament in Tennessee.

Why did you start blogging?

She says it was the “love to write I really wanted to start getting my writing especially my poetry out there for people to see, and I figured this would be a good way to improve on my writing skills especially because, I am working on my own poetry novel that I want to publish by the summer of 2019”

After only a year of Blogging, she has people wanting her to start a YouTube channel, for right now she says she is focusing on her blogging and gaining a following. She recently released a documentary called The Real Spartan Women, a spin off of her podcast show “Spartan Women”which all can be viewed on her blog.

Further down the road?

Daniella wants to be a journalist/current news reporter in New York and also wants to have 2 published novels by the time she is 25! As for now She said her goal in college is “to leave the biggest impact I can on my campus, I don’t want to be the student who just went to work and class and then went to her room, I want to be the student who came and tried her hardest to make a difference for someone”

Daniella Digiulo

Daniella Digiulo

What are the blogs about?

Her blogs are about her personal experiences that She feels a lot of young women can relate to. She says “I am very for women empowerment and uplifting one another. I feel we come from a generation where we have been subconsciously trained to be in competition with women around us, a constant not wanting to see each other grow.”

Her Goal?

The goal with her blog may seem simple and cliché but she says “truthfully, if I can reach one person and make them want to change, or make a difference whether that be within themselves, in their community, for the people around whatever change that may be, if I can inspire one person then I think I did my job here”
she says” Writing has always been an outlet for me when my mental health seems to be falling apart and with this blog it’s kind of like my own personal portfolio of all my creative ideas”

Who is "KOA" ? (TGF INTERVIEW)

Comment

Who is "KOA" ? (TGF INTERVIEW)

We recently got the chance to learn more about Photographer/videographer KOA

We GOt some insight on her up and coming projects. Be on the look out for her own animated series titled "Social Just-Us

Tell us a little about yourself, what is you name? Where are you from ?

My name is Tatyana Williams a.k.a KOA, I was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI

What are your favorite pieces of work ?

My favorite piece of work would have to be anything created in the 80's and 90's by African Americans. I believe it had such a powerful statement and message about unity and education in the black community and that's something I appreciate. A favorite piece of my own work would have to be the album that I'm working on right now, the past year has been honestly the toughest for me and I'm going through a transformation that I never thought I would meet and to me it's beautiful.

koa3.jpg

Describe your creative process?

I need complete silence. Eyes closed. And good vibes. I'm very much into energy and the ambiance of space and if it's not right then I can't be the best I could be thats why I surround myself with like-minded people and positive energy.

What do you like about TGF?

I like how different it is from other things that I have seen come out of Milwaukee so far. I've never seen a platform like this so close to home and I think it's great cause it's something that is beneficial to everyone of all flocks of life. We need something like TGF that is well known that can expose underground artists all over and expose young people to great things.

koa1.jpg

What got you into creating an animated series?

It was kind of something that was handed to me. I had appeared on Slick Living TV a couple years ago and someone who followed me contacted me on snapchat and told me they wanted to create a Superhero animated series with an all black cast and wanted to base one of them off of me and wanted me to Produce it as well and, learning to become an opportunist, I said yes and now here I am.

koa2.jpg

Who are some of your artistic inspirations?

I get my inspiration mostly from music and film, I find that visual art is what drives me. Influencers such as Michael Jackson, Spike Lee, Kurt Hugo Schneider, Sydney Poitier, TLC, Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar and most recently Kehlani, SZA would have to be where I would base my style from.

Do you have any tips for those looking to get into photography/videography/animation?

Always say "Yes". Growing up I was a very shy person and still am, and I think it prohibited me from being able to network and get to where I needed to be because I was always so shy. So my advice is if someone comes up to you and ask you to be apart of something and it seems right for you then just say "yes" and see where the world takes you.

MODEST [ TGF INSIDER ]

Robb Lim, the creative behind a Philly clothing company - MODEST, gave us the inside scoop on his beginnings and ACtivist mission moving forward.

ROBB LIM

ROBB LIM

SO tell us a little about yourself

My name is Robb Lim, owner and founder of MODEST, a clothing company based in Philadelphia. I am 24, born and raised in Maryland. I originally came to Philly to play basketball for PhilaU, I eventually ended up at Temple University to finish up my degree at Fox Business School.

How did you get started with Modest Philly ?

A huge void needed to be filled in my life when I stopped playing basketball; that was all I knew from middle school-freshman year of college. I was always business minded, so I started thinking to myself how can I turn my hobbies to a business. I always appreciated fashion, in my opinion fashion is the most obtainable form of art. The outfit you choose is an extension of yourself, from rocking Jordans to Chanel purses, fashion speaks for the individual. Currently I use MODEST as a medium for self expression and a vehicle to impact my community directly.

Do you have a team or is it strictly solo?

Not until 3 months ago did I decide to bring on partners. Our co-owner is Domonique Rose and our production director is John Obendorfer. Dom has been a lifelong friend to me, we are basically blood. John has become one of my closest friends in Philly, he is a solid guy first and foremost but his background in interior design will be a huge asset to MODEST for our pop-up installations. Aside from Dom and John we are EXTREMELY fortunate to work with some amazing creatives in Philly who play just an importantly role: Photographers - Mike Chaney and Ian Shiver Videographer - Joel Bernstein Graphic designers - Neil Spencer and Zela Khiangte.

What is your Mission with Modest Philly?

This is a loaded question, but to keep it short and sweet - our mission is to be purposeful with everything we do. There is a very apparent saturation of brands/art that seem to have no purpose, whether its just playing trends or super abstract art, here at MODEST everything we do is with purpose.

Chosen 300, an amazing non-profit that focuses on feeding Philadelphia’s less fortunate, is embedded in our DNA. $5 from all apparel purchases and 10% from all accessories goes to Chosen 300.

Our Supper Club Project is our greatest achievement thus far. The purpose is to start an organic conversation with the younger generation about local food. The end goal is educate my demographic about cooking and utilizing local produce/resources. We do this by partnering with someone in the food industry, so far our list includes: La Davisa Meats (locally sourced butcher-shop), Bassetts Ice Cream (America’s oldest creamery), and Condiment (America’s first small-batch condiment shop.) At each Supper Club we showcase our partners product and drop a limited edition piece of apparel. Art is installed and we run a canned food drive for Chosen 300.

What is coming next for you business, What does the future look like ?

We are now looking for stockist and looking to bring our Supper Clubs to other cities. Our future looks bright, we have been extremely blessed to have such a great community in Philadelphia that will help us succeed.

We need to keep setting the bar higher for Philadelphia in general, we have been underdogs for too long now. In the next 5 years Philadelphia will be leaders in the creative community.

Odd Ball Brand [ TGF INSIDER ]

The man behind the OddBall Brand!

Jerome James partnering with his girlfriend Tikeya McQuillan, are the founders of the OddBall Brand. From Pensacola Florida he bounced around from different hoods and projects. Rome says “Growing up with a single mother with three other siblings that’s honestly all we could afford. Growing up with my surroundings wasn’t the best environment but we didn’t really know any different. Personally I recognized a devestating trend “The dope boys were Hero’s” I know that sounds funny but in reality they protected our streets more than the cops and they put new shoes on our feet from time to time. Sense we looked up to them sooner or later we wanted to be them. Personally I knew that wasn’t the answer but honestly I felt trapped. It was either I got a scholarship for ball to get out the hood or I would work at the local fast food restaurant trying to do it the right way.” He then moved to Hillsborough NC June 2013 where he met Tikeya McQuillan. Moving to NC is when everything changed for Rome “When I moved here was when I saw the bigger picture. Everyone is moving in a positive way which impacted my drive for Odd.Ball”

Why did you start Odd.Ball Brand?

Rome is all for the Youth which is just what we need nowadays! His statement says it all “This is for the minority adolescents trapped in urban communities, afraid to RISE above the Odd.Ball label.”

What do you want to accomplish with Odd.Ball?

With the Heat that the OddBall brand is bringing, Rome just wants to accomplish having the youth and everyone else wearing what they have created and knowing his story!

What is the Mission for Odd.Ball

The OddBall Brand mission is something everyone wants for the Youth they are just one of the ones Bold enough to make it happen. Rome says “We want to pull up to different urban neighborhoods and talk to the youth and let them know you can get out the hood without a scholarship for Ball because I was there. I didn’t recognize the opportunity until I got out the environment. So I want to be that advocate or that connect for the youth!”

Be on the look out for more post about the OddBall Brand and work between The Ghetto Flower and the OddBall as we are for the Youth!
